Maps

Maps are a main feature in Shell Shockers. Maps are battleground arenas where players can join matches and battle others. There are currently 64 maps in Shell Shockers.

Important Notes:

The maps in the public map pool used to change each month. Right now, three existing maps move from the private map pool to the public or vice versa every update. Since Version 0.39.7 in May of 2021, maps moved in every update, not only monthly updates. So it means players will get to learn how to play certain specific maps better!
Some maps do not rotate into the public map pool, as they are usually only intended for player v.s player matches. These maps include Duel Pyramid, Death Pit, Rivals, Eggcrates, Downfall, Castle Arena and Field.
A new map will usually be added at the start of each month, most of the time during new update releases
These changes in the map pool are announced in The New Yolker, the game changelog, as well as the Discord server update announcement.
Sometimes the game developers make minor changes to maps such as adding a ladder or fixing a glitched spot on a map during random times of day without letting others know.

During mid-November of 2018, the official names of the maps in the game were introduced, along with a new map being introduced every so often. Early maps were not listed when they were added in the changelog so lots of them added before mid 2019 we do not know when they were added.

The majority of these maps are exclusive to private matches, where the map can only be played if the user creates it. That makes a private game where if you don’t want someone in your game, you can kick them. Some of the maps can also be used in public matches, in which people will be joined into a random public match on the selected server. All maps can be used in private matches depending on the game mode. Private matches now can be locked by using '/lock' in the game chat. This stop other users from joining the private server.

Notice: In November and December of 2022, many maps were edited and changed for the Christmas Event. As these edits to the maps are mostly strategically minor and probably will be temporary, we will not show them. As of 1/18/2023, these edits have been gone, and maps have been reverted. With the new updates we can now search for maps instead of having to flick through every single map to find the one you want.
